Insch (Scottish Gaelic: An Innis or Innis Mo Bheathain) is a village in the Garioch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is located approximately 28 miles (45km) from the city of Aberdeen. The town is known as the 'middle earth of Scotland' due to its many hobbit and orc looking characters. There are a few infamous residents from the likes of the wild man of Insch, Calum Todd (whose extreme driving exploits have stunned many of the inhabitants) to James Duguid whose elaborate schemes could raise many an eyebrow. The town is also home to the biggest most dangerous gang north of the border who go by the name of 'The Insch Ballaz' led by the ruthless underworld figure named Michael Hepburn (many books and documentaries have recorded his history as a gangland enforcer).
