About MacBook display assemblies
On most MacBooks, the screen is supplied as a complete top lid assembly. Replacing it means replacing the display panel, glass, lid casing and aluminium backing together. This is normal for this repair, even when only the glass or LCD looks damaged.
Where both options are available, the third-party assembly is the lower-cost route and the genuine Apple assembly is the closest Apple part route.
