About this model
The MacBook Pro, introduced by Apple Inc. in 2006, represents the premium segment of the MacBook family, which sits above the consumer-grade MacBook Air. It's currently available in 13-inch, 14-inch, and 16-inch models.
October 2008 saw the debut of the second unibody model with a sleek, tapered design and a casing made from a single block of aluminium. This design was then extended to the 17-inch model in January 2009. Subsequent updates incorporated advanced Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and introduced Intel's Thunderbolt technology.
In 2012, Apple introduced its upgraded MacBook Pro models, equipped with Ivy Bridge processors, USB 3.0 ports, and an increased default RAM of 8GB for premium models. Following this update, the 17-inch model was discontinued. By October 2013, all unibody MacBook Pros were phased out, except for the entry-level 13-inch model - the A1278. In 2016, Apple discontinued the last 13-inch aluminium MacBook Pro, notable for its DVD optical drive, FireWire port, hard disk drive and Ethernet port.
