Modern Slavery Policy

SimplyFixIt is the repair side of Ideal Computing.co.uk Ltd. We repair iPads, iPhones, Macs, laptops and other technology for homes, businesses, schools and public sector organisations across the UK.

Modern slavery is a serious abuse of human rights. It includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We do not tolerate modern slavery in our own business or in the supply chain that supports our repairs, retail sales and services.

This policy explains the steps we take to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chain.

Our supplier status

SimplyFixIt is a supplier of goods and services. We are not currently required to publish an annual modern slavery statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, which applies to commercial organisations carrying on business in the UK, supplying goods or services, with annual turnover of £36 million or more.

We are publishing this policy voluntarily because we believe it is the right thing to do, and because customers, including Scottish councils and other public sector organisations, may ask us to confirm our position on modern slavery.

Our business and supply chain

SimplyFixIt is based in Edinburgh and trades through Ideal Computing.co.uk Ltd., company number SC210716. Our registered office is 78 Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh, EH10 4HG.

Our work includes:

  • repairing customer devices
  • supplying replacement parts used in repairs
  • selling new and refurbished technology products
  • arranging courier and mail-in repair services
  • providing support to schools, businesses and public sector customers

Our supply chain includes technology parts suppliers, product distributors, courier and logistics providers, payment providers, software and website services, professional advisers, utilities, and other business support services.

We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist in global technology supply chains, especially where electronic components, raw materials, manufacturing, warehousing or logistics are involved. We are a small business, but we still have a responsibility to make sensible checks and to act if we identify a concern.

Our commitments

We will:

  • comply with applicable UK employment, tax, health and safety, equality and human rights laws
  • only employ people who have the right to work in the UK
  • pay staff directly and not use forced, bonded or involuntary labour
  • treat staff fairly and with respect
  • choose suppliers who are reputable and able to meet reasonable ethical standards
  • take modern slavery concerns seriously if they are raised by staff, suppliers, customers or public bodies
  • review this policy regularly and update it when our business or supply chain changes

Supplier expectations

We expect suppliers and contractors who work with SimplyFixIt to:

  • comply with all applicable laws on modern slavery, human trafficking and employment
  • avoid forced labour, child labour, bonded labour and any form of worker exploitation
  • provide safe working conditions
  • pay workers lawfully
  • be honest with us if a risk or incident is identified in their own business or supply chain

Where appropriate, we may ask suppliers to confirm that they have suitable policies or processes in place. For larger suppliers, manufacturers and distributors, we may rely on their published modern slavery statements, codes of conduct or equivalent ethical sourcing policies.

Due diligence and risk management

Our approach is proportionate to our size and the nature of our business. We do not manufacture electronic parts or control the lower tiers of global technology supply chains, but we can make careful choices about the suppliers we use.

We reduce risk by:

  • using established suppliers and distributors where possible
  • avoiding suppliers where there are clear concerns about unlawful or unethical labour practices
  • considering modern slavery and human rights risks when appointing or reviewing key suppliers
  • keeping procurement decisions under management oversight
  • responding promptly if a concern is raised

If we identify a credible modern slavery risk or incident, we will investigate it and take appropriate action. This may include asking the supplier for information, pausing purchases, requiring corrective action, ending the supplier relationship, or reporting the matter to the appropriate authority.

Training and awareness

SimplyFixIt is a small team, so our training is practical and proportionate. Relevant staff involved in purchasing, management and supplier relationships should understand:

  • what modern slavery is
  • where the main risks may occur in technology and logistics supply chains
  • how to raise a concern internally
  • why public sector customers may ask suppliers about modern slavery

Reporting concerns

Anyone who has a concern about modern slavery connected to SimplyFixIt, our suppliers or our services should contact us straight away.

Please email [email protected] or use the contact form on our website. Concerns will be reviewed by management and handled sensitively.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact Police Scotland on 999. If the concern is not an emergency, it can be reported to Police Scotland on 101. Concerns can also be reported to the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline.

Review

This policy will be reviewed at least annually, or sooner if our business, supply chain, legal obligations or public sector procurement requirements change.
