If you have any piece of electrical equipment you want to recycle, you can either:

  • Bring your old product into any of our SimplyFixIt stores when you are purchasing a new one.
  • or
  • Contact your local council to find out where is the nearest WEEE recycling centre. In Edinburgh the phone number is 0131 529 3030

PLEASE NOTE: If you are recycling a product that holds personal data (e.g. A Personal Computer, Laptop, Mobile Phone, etc.) you will need to have removed the information from your old product prior to us receiving it as we will not carry out any data removal.

All new electrical and electronic equipment we sell at SimplyFixIt can be recycled! You can tell because our products include a 'crossed out wheeled bin symbol' like this.

Even if your old product doesn't have the 'crossed out wheeled bin' symbol, the good news is that when you are purchasing a new product, we'll gladly accept and recycle your old electrical and electronic equipment to the best of our ability.

Recycling unwanted electrical products is better for the environment. Lead and other toxins contained in electrical goods can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a very harmful effect on the natural habitat, wildlife and also human health. When situated near populated areas these toxins can cause problems to communities as their water and soil is polluted.

Many of the electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save natural resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending waste electrical goods to landfill.
