The service provided was excellent, branch manager was quick to understand my concern and offer a solution which I could accept. I have given 4 star only because I had to get same issue fixed twice with in a year ( screen display stopped working) while repair warranty only last 3 months. I paid a fortune (***) for a software issue. I had to come back twice because the other main problem that I had was not fixed, even though the staff told me twice that it was. They insisted on changing the hard disk and the motherboard, saying that they were too old, even though my computer has only 3 years and worked well before the software issue. In the end, I couldn't use my computer for 8 days and I paid ***£ for a windows re-installation which I could have done by myself and another problem not to be fixed (+ they took me for a fool by saying twice that it was).

This is an area about which I have no expert knowledge and being able to trust the advice given is of significant importance. In this case I received advice from PS which I valued and followed. The result was that I now have a product that does exactly what I want it to do. The only feature that has caused a problem - which is entirely my fault - is that my wife has a pacemaker and the magnetic strip, which secures the keyboard, means she can't safely use the iPad. This feature never occurred to me although I know only too well that magnets interfere with pacemakers! Excellent service with nice people and I will gladly recommend them to my friends. Thanks ***

Telephone came back with the same problem the battery drains in 12 hours from 100% to 0%. I was told to take it back if this was the case. I took it bacxk again it happened. Then I am going to take it back again...

Very happy with work done to upgrade my iMac to latest specification. Helpful people in shop and good e-mail communication. Good pricing and will use them again.
One small improvement might be a briefing/fact sheet on 'what El Capitan does'. The computer works much faster, but there are a couple of things it no longer does (e.g. secure empty trash). This is more a comment about Apple than Simplifixit, but it would be nice to know.

this is now my third time and the staff are always helpful. Had to bring my iphone back for a second replaced screen literally within 24hrs. Was not told of warranty program, so I was charged full price for a new screen and given a free warranty... thankful for that much, would have appreciated even more to know that in the first place. Also, I wasn't told there is a student discount, so as a father of 4 and a phd student, that would have really helped out a lot, too.

I have had to use Simply FixIt twice and cannot fault them. The first time was when my MacBook Air was destroyed by me spilling Coke over it. They were unable to save the machine but they did recover the memory which was the important part. The second time was with my iPhone which refused to accept a charge. The work was carried out very quickly, in the case of the iPhone about two hours. Their practice of having various shops across a city is highly beneficial because of the convenience of that.

I've often taken broken apple things to Simply Fix It. They always give a clear, confident statement of what they can do and by when, and they always deliver what they say. A soaked macbook took a few days and quite a few quid but came back happy. Several broken phone screens have been repaired in a few hours. It's better not to trash your gear, but if you do, this is the place I'd go.

I understand that it is your standard procedure to check all hardware and software altogether
However, the most recent I fix my PC, I know that it should be hardware problem (loose USB slot and power button)
So I really don't want to give my PC password and let mechanic check software
As a result, I lost all my firefox tab session I kept as I looking for job and other important stuff there with no back up or recovery

As I put on Yelp, I am so happy with the shop on Forrest Road. Anna there was amazing at explaining to us what might have gone wrong and what could and couldn't be fixed. I love how she has a solid state hard drive and a regular hard drive and simply explained the difference (definitely talked us into getting SSDs and we're happy to have them so we are).
It wasn't exactly a cheap visit, fixing two MacBook Pros and an iPhone, but considering that the *** told me that both those computers were dead and in their graves, I definitely got value for money!

My rating is very poor. I will not return to Simplyfix and have taken the computer in question to another service for two reasons: First the man serving me, when i returned to give back the computer was rude. He said that the reason the screen was jumping was my hand was touching the mouse. As i have typed on an Apple since 2009, this is not true. Second he said i was upset and needed a drink at 11:00, a gin and tonic. I was concerned that i lost eight pages of writing, but knew i could rewrite if necessary. I was unhappy about the waste of time. But to accuse me of being more upset than i was, told me the man wanted to see something that was not there. So i do not trust Simplyfix or its staff. he did have one of his techs recover the file. But i still needed to take it to another shop.

Way too expensive to replace a cracked IPhone screen - about 100 British pounds - and then when I tried to pay by credit card, I was told I couldn't, because the maximum charge allowed on a credit card was 30 pounds! Very frustrating - I was told this was store policy because in the past 3 customers charged high amounts for some computers and then claimed what they bought was stolen from thing, or some such scam. Don't understand why I should be penalized for this. I then had to find a cash machine so I could get my phone back. Such poor customer service!!! Plus the repair fee, in my estimation, was way too high!

I don't feel you could improve where do I start. I cracked my phone so I phoneed simply fix got through to the correct shop quick and simple the woman told me the price and said it would take a couple of hours. Took it into the shop which I was very impressed with very clean shop and plenty of accessories on display. The gentleman I dealt with in the shop was very helpful and well mannered told me to come back in two hours. When I went back they gave me my iPhone six plus with the new screen that they had fitted no waiting about it was great had my phone fix the same day as I broke it and it works and looks brand new great job thanks very much to the team at simply fix it Edinburgh forrest road.

I took my iPhone in for a new battery and was told it would be ready by 1.30. When I went back it had not been looked at and I was told it would be another 3 hours before it was ready. I explained this was no good as we were not in the area for the afternoon and this was not what we were told originally. The reply was he was very stressed.
The attitude of staff was appalling and the service was terrible I would not recommend using this company.

Every assistant I dealt with was *incredibly* patronising and paternalistic. I'm a competent user and was looking for mechanical repairs to my laptop, but it was clear they were assuming a level of competence you might expect from a 70-year-old, and laid the upsell on pretty thick.
Assistants were clearly answering questions they were used to hearing, rather than listening to the actual questions I was asking. For instance, when I signed that I understood my data might be lost and was asking if they anticipated that this might be the case (just out of interest, because I'd backed everything up) they started explaining what "formatting" meant. Then, they installed AVG, despite me asking them not toI'd previously had AVG and had recently changed to different antivirus software, for various reasons.
Not all your customers will be completely computer illiterate, guys. Dealing with the assumption that I'm an idiot every time I walk in the store does not make me want to come back, or recommend you to others.

When my quite new MacBook Pro went wrong I humped it over to a very grand emporium where I expected help but found myself crowded among people thinking of buying the latest devices who were being chatted up by a swarm of young assistants who told me, when I finally got one to listen, to make an appointment and come back with my laptop in a week whereas at SimplyFixit I was met immediately by a friendly person, who took it in
immediately and got it back to me in 3 or 4 days. Maybe it was just a bad day at the other place but the service at SimplyFixit was incomparably superior.

Simplyfixit replaced the glass screen on my iPad Air. It was returned with a fault - ghost shifting. Simplyfixit rectified the fault under warranty and returned the fully functioning iPad back to me. Overall, a good service. Staff very helpful over phone.

The laptop came back with the screen fixed but the battery could no longer take a charge. That new problem was fixed at no extra cost, which is great! However, unlike the first job, I never received messages about when it would be done. I had to call in to check up on its status. If they were consistent with updates, I would give 5 stars.

For an unknown reason, my camera lost about 75 photos from the memory card. These photos were from a wonderful vacation to Edinburgh and were "priceless." This memory card had been previously erased and the lost photos were the only thing on it.
Took the card into simplyfixit to see if they could somehow retrieve my photos. It actually took a few days but they managed to resurrect everything from six years ago on that chip. They saved my vacation!

The service was efficient and what I would expect from a business aware of its reputation and the importance of word of mouth recommendation. I did, however, feel that having to shuttle between the Forrest Road shop and the Bruntsfield shop by foot carrying a laptop could have been avoided and therefore a more customer friendly service could have been provided: e.g. someone from Forrest Road could have volunteered to drop the laptop which I had just bought for £300 at Forrest Road instead of me having to carry it there myself on foot.

Handed in my phone two weeks ago to have my screen repaired and still haven't got it back. Was initially charged £80 to have the screen fixed but then told the LCD was also broken (despite the fact the image on the screen appeared clearly behind the glass) and so the repair would cost another £20.

I split a cup of water on the keyboard on my Mac Pro. After a night I came to simplyfixit with little hope that my mac would be fixed. You opening hrs are very good as well.
Only issue really is the standing charge for just looking at the computer. The last time wasn't an issue as it obviously had a problem but before I have been and there is a min charge. I went elsewhere then and the guy ran a program in a few mins and charged a tenner.

I was ready to chuck my ipod in the bin after another shop more or less told me it was not worth while repairing as I could probably have bought another one cheaper. The computer & iPhone repair industry has become increasingly competitive over the last couple of years, with many new start ups entering the market.
Unfortunately, some companies have chosen to trick customers into believing that they are something they are not, by making unbelievable claims as to their credibility. With a little research, customers can avoid a dodgy repair and wasting time and money with these companies.
Question 1 : How long has the company been around?
There are some repair businesses that make claims to having 5 to 10 years experience, yet have only been around for a few months. A quick business name search can tell you when the business was established. Since we started as Ideal Computing in 1996 we've seen a lot of companies come and go.
Question 2 : Are there any independent reviews?
Happy customers will leave reviews and recommend others. It is interesting to see that many of our competitors who claim to have been around for years and have done thousands of repairs do not have a single person who has written a good thing about them. Check independent review sites such as Yelp, or eKomi and other forums to see if anyone has had a good (or bad) experience with your repairer.
SimplyFixIt customers have left over 2,700 reviews on Google through independent feedback collector eKomi and lots more comments can be found on independent forums.
Question 3 : How many repairs have they really done?
Some companies, which are only a few years old, are claiming 10,000 to 40,000 repairs. If you do the maths over how long they have been trading, some of them must have their technicians doing over 200 repairs a day. SimplyFixIt is the only local company dedicated to repairs with over 30 full time technicians. We have completed over 100,000 repairs to date (correct at July. 2016), and are the preferred repairer for over 300 schools and businesses around Edinburgh.
Question 4 : Is it Cash Only?
Some businesses are not registered for VAT and only accept cash. While this arrangement has its obvious tax benefits for the business and possibly their pricing, you have to ask yourself whether they will be around to honour their warranty if anything goes wrong. These businesses are focused on short term benefit and may not be looking too far ahead. These businesses tend to pop up one day and disappear a little while down the track.

SimplyFixIt accepts VISA, VISA Debit, MasterCard, Maestro, Apple Pay and, of course, cash payments.
There are many repair businesses with flashy websites filled with false claims designed to make them seem legitimate. We encourage customers to look beyond the website and spend a couple of minutes doing a background check to see what experiences other customers have had, and whether the claims made on the website are true. A business that makes false claims may not be entirely honest when it comes to looking after your laptop or phone that has a lot of confidential information and photos on it.
