So delighted that Simplyfixit sorted out my iPad - which would have been a real pain if I'd had to trail off to the Apple shop, where they'd have taken ages to sort out, and charged me a lot of money. Only haven't given 5 stars as their system didn't allow me to pay by card - though my bank couldn't understand why. Wonder whether it was because the email address the iPad was registered in was different from the one I have now. But I always go to Fixit first - and so far they've done just that.....

I found the staff to be extremely helpful and professional.

My sister gave me my nieces iphone 6s as apple told her it would cost *** to fix & shed be best to buy my niece a new one, which she did. Simply Fix it got it going again for *** and gave me a discount on a new battery. I liked the fact that the chap who booked in my computer had a go at sorting it first, while I waited. It was like a mini triage system at A&E. This gave me confidence that I wasn't just handing it over, to be told 48-hours later "All you needed to do was . . . . . ." Laptop worked and was very clean when it came back :-)

Cracked screen was not fixed on account of water damage. This was never explained to me when I dropped my phone off, only after Id wasted 2 hours waiting to collect my phone. No satisfactory explanation offered as to why and the staff member on the desk was rude and defensive. I asked to be directed to the t&c that explained this kind of work could not / would not be carried or and was told it was on the website. I could not find this so emailed to ask to be directed to it and never received a reply.

I brought my iPhone in because the connection was faulty, and was charged £*** in advance. That's fine, I'm happy to have my phone repaired and back in use.
However I was slightly surprised that all happened for my £*** was a clean I'd assumed a replacement part was involved, especially after I was told you "had the necessary parts in stock". In the event my phone didn't take 2 hours to fix, it took less than 15 minutes. The Apple Store wouldn't have charged that.
Can I suggest that you charge a maximum in future? If it costs less than that, give your customer a credit note? At least that would encourage them to come back.

I always find my contacts with Simplyfixit helpfull. They are definitely a drop in centre for me when I am struggling to deal with some issue I do not understand. This last contact was after a scam which happily my bank handled well and no money left my account. But my bank advised me to get my laptop checked and cleaned Tom remove unwanted software which was a blessing because I knew that my computer needed a service - it is now so much better - faster for loading up. and they advised me to xhanye from Internet Explorer to Firefox which has been a good change.
My only reservation was that they did not phone me as I requested so that I was without it for longer than necessary.

These guys are great. They have replaced three batteries for me in the last two months, in three different machines. Service is always quick, and the kit comes back tested and cleaned. In the shop, it's worth taking a couple of minutes for a chat too.

was told on the Saturday to drop off iPhone for screen replacement on the Monday at 9am. When I tried to do this screen hadn't been delivered. I had to chase and phone and finally dropped off phone. Was told just over an hour to repair but 4 hours later I was chasing and phoning again.
For iPad mini I dropped off on the Saturday and was told 5 days. Same issue again nobody called or updated and wasn't ready and I had to call and chase again and ended up going into shop to chase.

As far as I can tell the quality of work is good, however expectation setting and communication is poor. I was told my laptop would take a couple of days and that you'd be in touch however it ended up being 8 or 9 days in total and it was always me calling you to find out what was happening.

Simply fix has been myour standby over the years. I have always experienced kind professional and excellent service from them. I have only once been dissatisfied with their service and that was minor due to one clerk who was not paying attention to his work as he normally did. I had to go back to them to get him to finish his work which was extraordinary experience for simply fix. He had failed to give me the receipt for the work,failed to give back the old hard drive and failed to put on the security password. Even after I spoke to him he only gave me the reception. I had to go to yet another computer shop to put on the security password. This example is an exception to all the great work they did and have done over the years...

For the second time these guys did a great job and fixed something (a laptop) which wasn't working, Communication was a little disappointing, kept having to 'phone them, they did send a text message but it didn't arrive for several days - this happened before. They also said "if you have any problems at all please call us" but when I did the guy wasn't available and he didn't call me back though I left my number. So 10/10 for repairing the laptop without losing any data but communication and aftersales service could be improved!

Really disappointed. Pointed out to the gentleman in the shop right off the bat that it was probably a hard drive cable. I'd researched it on the internet. A 1/2 hour job for someone competent. £*** to look at the computer, including all labour.....that's £*** an hour for what they did. You can buy the part, new, Apple, on the internet for £***. So, parts, extra. Big fat, healthy profit on parts. I also had five sticky keys, they wanted to replace keyboard for £***. I have bought keys and the plastic parts for under them for £*** and I shall clean under and replace them myself. They easily could have done this without trying to get me to replace the whole keyboard. Also recommended was more memory, and a new battery. The battery is working perfectly. So over £*** recommended, when all I needed was 1/2 of work at the most replacing a £*** part. I feel really cheated. They made about £*** off me for a half hour job - would have paid their guy maybe £*** tops to do it and £*** for the part. That's a big fat profit of £*** for a half hour's work. I won't be going back.

I had put off seeing to growing problems with the running of my Mac until it reached a point where the system failed to load into OS. This pushed me to seek out some expertise for advice and hopeful recovery. Although I was fearing the worst - that files might be lost and irrecoverable - I found the staff at SimplyFixit friendly and helpful. After a hardware check, the installation of an SSD and a new battery, along with successful backup, I was delighted within a couple of days of handing in the Mac to be using it again, running at 10 times the speed and even somehow looking as good as new! One or two hiccups to do with accessing backup were easily solved by another visit.

Sadly I could not recommend this company to carry out computer repairs and will review accordingly.
I left my computer with SimplyFix in Stockbridge and was asked to pay £99 upfront. I wondered right then if this upfront policy was a strategic safeguard so that no matter if the problem was fixed or not, the company would be paid handsomely just to take a look at the computer.
And so it turned out. The problem was deemed unfixable by the two members of staff who looked at it. A complete waste of £99.
The next day I took the computer to an o2 computer shop and within 10 minutes the probably deemed unfixable by SimplyFix was fixed. And entirely free of charge too.
I'm sorry SimplyFix but this service is simply not good enough and customers who suffer such poor service will always leave a poor review.
I have been too busy this week to post an independent review but I absolutely will do so in addition to giving you this feedback which you asked for.
My message to other customers is to stay well clear of Simply Fix it.

Very helpful - When swapping my cracked iPad screen ,I asked for Battery to be changed at same time but after testing it, they called me to tell me that it was 80% effective so the improvement might not be as good as I was expecting but instead changed system settings which stopped the battery drain rather than charging me for something I did not need.

It was all absolutely fantastic. I booked in my laptop about a month in advance, wanting it to be done over a few days when I knew I wouldn't be using it. Alex took great care to make sure all my software upgraded in a way that meant all programmes would work with each other. He cleaned up my laptop, getting rid of programmes I don't use (with my permission). My laptop was ready for my to pick up when I needed it. I went to SimplyFixIt to get my laptop upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I'm pretty competent with IT but, having heard about the problems a colleague experienced, I decided to let somebody else have the hassle. The staff explained how they'd go about the upgrade, i.e. what kind of checks they'd do before starting, and approx. how long it would take. I could tell from the questions they asked that they had a well worked out approach, and so didn't go away worried about leaving my laptop with them. The work was done within the time they'd specified, and they gave me a quick run-through Windows 10 when I went to pick it up. I've now been using my laptop for about a week and haven't experienced any problems so far.

An excellent service. My Laptop Hard Disk started to fail (to be honest it has been dodgy since I bought the PC). SimplyFixIt advised me on the best replacement for my specific requirements and copied my data across for me. When it became apparent that the Windows 10 upgrade they had done did not support the majority of the applications I ran (Windows Starter, Excel Starter and Windows Live Mail) they then at no extra charge cloned the old (Windows 7) disk onto the new one.

The guys diagnosed the problem very quickly and gave me various repair options with clear costings. My problem involved the loss of an important file through my own carelessness. The Simplyfixit diagnosis was that recovery could not be guaranteed, as a preliminary examination did not identify the specific problem - which was compounded by the fact that my laptop was old, had once been dropped on a cement floor, and had developed certain quirks that only I was familiar with. However, after three days I was contacted by the technician appointed to help me to be told he had 'something' on the screen he thought might be the missing document. Which indeed it was! I can't tell you how relieved and pleased I was to see it again, or how much time and energy the recovery saved me (for which, incidentally, I paid only the standard recovery fee of £60). This is not the first time I have received assistance from the excellent staff at the Stockbridge branch. On each occasion I have been impressed by their skill, courtesy and patience. Following this latest episode I shall shortly be acquiring a new laptop and won't hesitate to ask for their help in transferring material from the old one.

I broke my iPhone 6 screen in a night club on Saturday night - dropped on the stone floor. Shattered, as was I. I had used Simply Fixit a number of times before and found them swift, accommodating and good value. This occasion was no exception. Even better, they are open all day on a Sunday until 6pm. I took my phone in at lunchtime and it was ready for collection (as good as new) in an hour and a half. I also took out the offer of insurance for 3 more screen breaks in 1 year for £25. That's worth it if you only break it once. The main job is £129. *** could only give me an appointment in 5 days time and then there was no guarantee what they would do when they examined the phone. Very helpful staff, they fixed 2 ipods and and iphone screen, one screen wasn't quite right but they took it back and re did it.
It still was not quite right which was disappointing and unfortunately my daughter cracked the screen again in the corner so they would not re do the screen on warranty because of the screen. Nor would they give a discount which was understandable but a shame as the ipod hadn't been right since repair.

I was a little confused at first as when I brought my laptop in it was suggested that I either had a virus or that my anti-virus software was causing problems. In the end I was later rung up by *** to explain to me that it was a problem with my hard drive which needed replaced. He was very helpful and reassuring but to be honest I'm still not all that clear on how the hard drive on a 3.5 year old lap top can fail so soon. However it is working a lot better so I am certainly pleased with the outcome.

We brought in a pc for repair. Simply fix-it re-built a new machine using working parts from the existing machine. Throughout the process we have explained that the PC is for games such as Crysis 3. The new machine still had problems. We were advised to buy a new graphics card, which we did (we had to get it from another branch of Simply fix-it in Morningside) at a cost of over £200. The machine still had problems (no power, no display on game, wifi loosing signal). We brought it in again. When my wife came to collect it she experienced rudeness from one member of staff. We took it home and it still had similar problems. We thought that the problem may be local, so we contacted SFI asking for a site attendance, which we were willing to pay for. A sales person phoned back earlier this week, but was reluctant to send anyone round to our house and said he would speak to a manager and contact me the following day. I didn't hear anything else.
At this point in time we have a PC, which we have spent a lot of money on with very limited functionality relative to it's use. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Took a fair while to diagnose the issue with my laptop in which I have to chase for an update on.
Thought the initial cost of £89 to take a look and diagnose the issue was way overpriced.
Problem couldn't really be indentified and so further cost would have been involved costing more that what was paid for the laptop brand new so opted to turn internal hard drive to an external hard drive which involved a cost (considering the price I originally paid to diagnose what the issue was, felt that service could have been included in the cost).
Overall review is staff were friendly and explained the suituation well the service was over priced for what was provided and would next time investigate cost/services other companies would offer first

There are some repair businesses that make claims to having 5 to 10 years experience, yet have only been around for a few months. A quick business name search can tell you when the business was established. Since we started as Ideal Computing in 1996 we've seen a lot of companies come and go.
Question 2 : Are there any independent reviews?
Happy customers will leave reviews and recommend others. It is interesting to see that many of our competitors who claim to have been around for years and have done thousands of repairs do not have a single person who has written a good thing about them. Check independent review sites such as Yelp, or eKomi and other forums to see if anyone has had a good (or bad) experience with your repairer.

Question 3 : How many repairs have they really done?
Some companies, which are only a few years old, are claiming 10,000 to 40,000 repairs. If you do the maths over how long they have been trading, some of them must have their technicians doing over 200 repairs a day. SimplyFixIt is the only local company dedicated to repairs with over 30 full time technicians. We have completed over 100,000 repairs to date (correct at July. 2016), and are the preferred repairer for over 300 schools and businesses around Edinburgh.
Question 4 : Is it Cash Only?
Some businesses are not registered for VAT and only accept cash. While this arrangement has its obvious tax benefits for the business and possibly their pricing, you have to ask yourself whether they will be around to honour their warranty if anything goes wrong. These businesses are focused on short term benefit and may not be looking too far ahead. These businesses tend to pop up one day and disappear a little while down the track.

There are many repair businesses with flashy websites filled with false claims designed to make them seem legitimate. We encourage customers to look beyond the website and spend a couple of minutes doing a background check to see what experiences other customers have had, and whether the claims made on the website are true. A business that makes false claims may not be entirely honest when it comes to looking after your laptop or phone that has a lot of confidential information and photos on it.
